AUGUSTA – Although FAME did not host its annual Showcase Maine event in person this year, it virtually gave away the annual “Get to Work for Maine” awards. FAME presented the awards to businesses, lenders and higher education partners to recognize their significant contributions to the state.

AUGUSTA – Although FAME did not host its annual Showcase Maine event in person this year, it virtually gave away the annual “Get to Work for Maine” awards. FAME presented the awards to businesses, lenders and higher education partners to recognize their significant contributions to the state. Video profiles of each of the laureates are posted on the FAME website, as are remarks recorded by Governor Janet T. Mills, who was scheduled to deliver the opening speech if an in-person event had occurred.

Lender at Work for Maine Award (under $ 1.5 billion in assets) awarded to Skowhegan Savings: FAME honors Skowhegan Savings in recognition of its exceptional commitment to making Maine communities better places to live and work . They were FAME’s first lending partner in the lender category with less than $ 1.5 billion in assets.

Over the past year, Skowhegan Savings has partnered with FAME on 13 loans totaling approximately $ 3.9 million. This in turn helped create and retain 77 jobs in Maine. Examples of companies assisted by FAME in partnership with Skowhegan Savings: Bell Holdings; FHF Realty; MooMoo Playcare Center; northern lights in Maine; and ranger contract.

“Although we were unable to meet in person this year, FAME would like to thank and recognize many of our partners for their contribution to the economic and educational well-being of Maine,” said Carlos Mello, Acting General Manager by FAME. “We are delighted to honor these selected partners who are helping to improve Maine’s economic and educational future, especially during these difficult times. “

In her recorded message, Mills said, “Organizations like FAME, which are able to make education more affordable, able to create well-paying jobs and able to support local businesses, are more important than ever.
