Mumbai: In another loan collection malpractice case by an app-based lender, a 34-year-old man from Taloja, Navi Mumbai, has fallen prey to the vicious cycle. The victim has now disappeared after being constantly harassed by loan collectors.
Meanwhile, his family members – his mother and sister – receive rape threats while his photos are transformed and shared with his contacts. Some of the messages sent by debt collectors indicated that the borrower’s mother and sister were available for paid sex so he could repay the loan, midday reported.
The victim identified as Suhas Jagdale, worked as a delivery man and had been upset for a few days. His family members claimed that after receiving messages, Jagdale said he had urgent work and would return home after two days once the pending work was completed. When Jagdale failed to return on the spurred day, his family members recorded an FIR.

Jagdale’s sister added that some of their relatives also received messages that Jagdale raped an underage girl and ran away. Another post, which contained a morphed photo of Jagdale, said he was looking to have sex with men for money. “I urge the police to take note and help us locate our brother and end this nightmare,” she said.
The police filed a complaint for disappearance and opened the investigation. Jitendra Sonawane, Senior Inspector at Taloja Police Station, said: “We are working to locate him. We will also register an FIR based on abusive and vulgar messages received by the missing person’s sister.
